We are an environmentally responsible business and a lean principles leader. Our goal is to minimize the impact on the local community and the environment. For this reason, we are making changes and choices that support and maintain the health of the environment. Those changes range from following sustainable business practices to reducing waste and increasing productivity with lean polypropylene manufacturing principles.

Our parent company, United Plastic Fabricating, Inc., has engaged in several Green Initiatives, allowing us to follow in the same footsteps since day one. Our Green initiatives have reduced our environmental footprint, helping us, our customers, and partners have cleaner business practices.

Additionally, we have incorporated the production flow principles into our design process to decrease waste, increase quality, reduce costs, and identify problems early in the process. This process also makes delivery forecasts more accurate to answer the question “when is my product going to ship?”. This workflow helps us eliminate wasted time, energy, or product, and deliver our customers the highest value solutions. Therefore, having both Green and Lean initiatives help contribute to our bottom line as well as yours.

Moreover, we have obtained ISO certifications in all our manufacturing facilities to validate that our business management system, polypropylene manufacturing process, service, and documentation procedures, comply with the necessary standards of quality, safety, and efficiency in the manufacture of our products, services. The most up-to-date certification we earned was the ISO 9001 2015. Even though this certification is mainly related to quality standards, it also contributes to corporate sustainability. These initiatives help us drive continuous improvements in our business growth.

Since all of our initiatives minimize waste and maximize productivity, they lead to successful and sustainable plastic manufacturing efforts. With the support from the consultants of the Lean Transformations Group, we achieved business performance improvement gains. As a result, we increased our production line productivity by 40%, all productivity by 15%, and reduced warranty cost by 40%. However, the story does not end here. We are responsible for self-improving within our line of work. There is always room for improvement. We are far from perfect, but we take the necessary steps to bring us closer to it.

Improving Our Business Practices for Our Customers and Partners:

Increase Fuel Efficiency and Reduce Carbon Emissions

Using CPF trucking’s materials to lessen the weight on truck chassis allows for larger shipping loads.

Recycle

  • Our material of choice, Polypropylene, is 100% recyclable. We regrind scrap material and send it back to the supplier to recycle it for future use.
  • Digitizing most job packages and recycling paper job packages.
  • Reusing tank test station water.
  • Scrap material that is not usable in our products is shipped to recyclers that turn it into other useful products.
  • All UPF products are 100% recyclable after they reach the end of life.

Reduce Unnecessary Waste

  • Reclaiming cut material in our factories and weld it together to form additional sheets.
  • Nesting product designs ensure that scrap is kept to a minimum.
  • Factories exclusively use high-efficiency lighting, while our office lights are on motion timers.
