The trū® Shrimp Company needed huge, custom fabricated tanks (referred to as Tidal Basins™) for their new facility being built in Minnesota in 2018. Fortunately, they found our parent company, United Plastic Fabricating (UPF), headquartered in Massachusetts, with three manufacturing facilities throughout the United States.

Although UPF had more than three decades of experience building much smaller tanks for fire trucks, their engineers and production managers felt confident that they could handle this massive undertaking with aplomb.

During the project, trū Shrimp was pleasantly surprised at the hands-on approach taken by UPF’s engineers. After the successful build and grand opening, trū Shrimp was quoted as saying, “We were impressed with UPF’s quality, timeliness, and—most importantly—how their engineers were able to add value through their flexibility, adaptability, and design improvement suggestions.”

Robert Gervais, Senior Director of Operations, added, “We had more than 1,200 feet of plastic, Tidal Basin material. We found a total of six or seven minuscule leaks that were easily repaired. We were impressed with the sheer lengths and number of seams, we were expecting many more issues, but none surfaced. Since that time, we have had zero issues with the tanks provided by UPF. We are looking forward to working with them again on another new facility as soon as we procure the capital investment required.”
